Now might also be a good time to optimise the wiring as well.

Yeah, seen it already Ben, desperately needed to get the connection sorted first though! Will certainly be coming back to it as/when this is sorted!

On this link though....
BT Line Tests (quiet line/distance from exchange etc) - The Scream!
The info' is nigh on 6 years old and you can only perform the quiet test without entering an authorised mobile 'phone number first.

If all goes well now... I may even be able to rekindle my poker career!

Thanks much! - Dave..

On a p.s. note, I came across an avatar that instantly made
me think of our very own jonni...!!

Dave the only test you are interested in is the Quiet Line Test, the others aren't of interest.

Ps I don't think poker would be such a wise idea, unless it's for play money

The master socket / test socket is completely silent...

Ps I don't think poker would be such a wise idea, unless it's for play money

B4 I came to CAG I had a good up & coming career in online poker for real money, the constant drop-outs and re-connect refusals forced me to quit, just for example... My last hand of online poker saw me holding a Full House, Queens and Two's... Connection dropped, refused to re-connect, result being that I was timed out of a £25K multi table competition of which my hand would have taken me to 2nd position...
But we're not bitter!! <hic!!>

Make sure that your router is plugged into the master socket as it gets the cleanest signal.

Also the first link I posted has a simple diagram that may help.

If you are out of contract with Sky then unplug their box as it doesn't need to be connected at all.

possibly, but anyone with a reasonable grasp of probability and who doesn't like risks can win pretty easily.

The Original Computer

Memory was something you lost with age
An application was for employment
A program was a TV show
A cursor used profanity

A keyboard was a piano
A web was a spider 's home
A virus was the flu
A CD was a bank account

A hard drive was a long trip on the road
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived

And if you had a 3 inch floppy.

You just hoped nobody ever found out!?!

Ben will probably understand this better than I did.....

Had UKO on this morning to say, "we've had the exchange re-jumpered and reset your speed to 8Mbps and can you please test this out now"...

Well that was bloomin' quick from only last night!!

English please Ben??

It was easy money Dave, I also had one of those sit on top "outs"/probability calculators running next to the poker client, taking money off the British drunks at weekends was easier than stealing sweets from a child.

If I get a stable connection back I may even go back there!
