Their Help services are a joke, they have not improved one iota since Carphone Warehouse took them over, and broadband speeds are a joke. I'm currently on their fastest broadband package and last week it took something like 25 minutes to download a 105KB anti virus update: the equivalent of a small JPEG. Over the years their experts have helped me tremendously, around 12 Windows crashes, the complete loss of saved email, instructions on how to get the AOL software running better resulted in my computer refusing to acknowledge any operating system was loaded on my computer and i had an AOL rep tell me Windows XP was at fault because it was ancient and redundant and by law i should uninstall Windows XP and buy a copy of Vista.
I hate the company, i hate the way all customers are treated like an irritation, i wish they'd just shut up shop and disappear. I'm in the process of switching from AOL, i can't believe i gave them so much leeway in the past and i can't believe i've been such a loyal fool for so long. |

| Re: aol ignores you When you have switched, you should do a format and clean reinstall of XP as that is the ONLY way to clear their software from your system. |

After the hell AOL put me through i finally got my MAC code and promptly switched to Sky Broadband. My speed is constant and i'm absolutely delighted. AOL did play nasty with me though. Once i'd cancelled we were plagued with canvassers over the phone from India, it got so bad we never answered the damn phone, it's not a coincidence i think.
I'm in no position to offer much advice about AOL, but the little i do know gives me grounds to say one thing: If you're sticking with any company because of that old fashioned idea of loyalty....think again. Companies today think of loyalty in terms of how much money they can screw out of you, you're just a number to them. So, if your service from them is bad...switch to someone else if you can, hit them where it hurts, in their pocket!! |

Im toyiing with leaving this country soon as I really have had enough of its legal system, AOL (lol), consumer issues etc. Its fast becoming a joke!! |

I too have had enough of AO-hell, like yourself a loyal customer.
I want to change providers as well but still have 8 months of my current contract to run.
I was wondering if I could ask for my MAC code from AOL and cancelling my contract with them because in my view.....Aol have broken my contract by ...Not providing the service I pay for. ie, slow speeds/ pages not loading/pages freezing ect.And their excuse is always we are migrating at the moment.
Giving my bank details to CPW without my permission (what happened to the data protection act)
Not informing me of CPW take over of Aol uk.
Despite sending them multiple complaints nothing is ever sorted out.
Cpw should stick to selling mobile phones because they have no clue how to be a broadband provider. |
