Default Virgin/Telewest

My mum took out a contract for tv/phone and broadband with Telewest some time ago. Although the phone was hooked up they never sorted out the broadband etc but billed her for the privilege. She rang them up and said you are billing me for a service I have never had, and they said not to worry that they woudl amend send out a new contract etc. Then she received a bill for calls on the phone that should have been charged at a different rate cos they were part of a package (overseas calls) and called them and they said oh thats is not on the new contract, sorry we shall amend the contract including it etc, this kept happening. The kept sending her bills for services she had not had and then they were taken over by Virgin who are sending solicitors letters stating that there is no evidence that she never had the service and she has to pay up.

Its £100's and she is worried sick cos they are threatening to sue.

She never got anything in writing, they said they would only deal with her over the phone andwhen she asked for an address to correspond to they said ":Oh we are everywhere, we are in the ether"

So what does she do now that Virgin have put it in the hands of solicitors?

HELP!!!!!!!!

This is where complaints go anyway but at least this way it will go direct and stand less chance of disappearing. Steve Stewart is the Managing Director of customer service so it wouldn't hurt to stick his name on it. I have an e-mail address for his secretary who was quite helpful (eventually), I could share this via PM as long as you do not disclose where you got it from.

All I would say is stick to the facts, they are absurd, and believe me when I say the powers that be KNOW how bad thier service is. I almost feel sorry for some of the people that work for Virgin.

I would just set out the facts in chronological order, don't get emotional it doesn't look good on paper, and perhaps point out that you have tried several times to resolve this.

Anyone got any other suggestions?
