Brighthouse recently opened a store in our town and i like many others was attracted in on their opening day luckily i walked in and walked right back out again it just didn't appeal and looking at their rates i was honestly shocked by how much you ended up paying for goods. W'e've only just dug ourselves from under a huge pile of debt and I am wary of going down that path again its a long road back.
today i recieved a call from Brighthouse asking me about a friend, asking me to confirm his name and address how long I've known him and if i would stand as a character reference for him i asked if it was in relation to a job and she said she couldn't confirm that (he has an open invitation to use me as a character reference for a job) she then asked me what my understanding of brighthouse was. i told her that i was a member of the consumer action group forum and that coincidentaly i had only just the day before read the whole brighthouse thread as the new shop had opened in our town and my understanding was that they were a company who preyed on people when they were least likely to be thinking about the impact of high interest rates and that i would hope that my friend wasn't thinking of getting involved with them she thanked me for my time and hung up. i called my friend and its worse than i thought he's bought a shed load of stuff from them and they wanted me as a reference for the credit not a job, he assured me that i am not a guarantor but i told him that if he has any sense at all he will cancel any agreement and stay away from them

That's three new stores so far this year... Five more to go...

Isn't it odd that Brighthouse have chosen this year to embark on a rapid expansion program? Most retail companies are "battening down the hatches" are preparing for the credit crunch!!!

You can still help your friend, Freda. Perhaps you could print off a copy of our Brighthouse factsheet HERE and lock him in a small room until he's read through it 10 times?

Brighthouse will only have you on file as a reference - not a guarantor. They will have your name, address and phone number. Expect phone calls if your friend gets into payment difficulties.
