Wink Tax Credits and DLA

Hi Everone

I am new on here so please be careful with me I am in need of someones help regarding tex credits and DLA. I applied for DLA for my eldest daughter in January, in a nutshell we were turned down and I had to appeal which again was turned down. After a long wait we went to an independent tribunal in August and my daughter finally got middle rate care allowance which was backdated to January. The problem I am having is with the tax credits back pay. They have backdated higher rate tax credits for 93 days which they did over the phone and they have referred it to get it backdated to January. I have phoned about 20 times since August and keep being told the same thing. Nothing has come back it is still being processed. How long does this normally take? I am getting increasingly frustrated and have just written a letter to them, probably wont do any good though can someone pleasssssse help

You will need to make a formal complaint to the complaints department in writing. Once a tax credit award has been finalised as your 07/08 will have been then only the complaints department can reopen it (so they told me). If you look at my thread - seeking email address for senior tax credit people in this part of the forum you will find the address and phone numbre you need to contact.

In my experience it took a few weeks after the complaints department got involved, helped along by my MP. I suspect it was the MPs involvement that got it dealt with quickly - I contacted him by email and he wrote on my behalf.

As i have posted in other threads, contact your MP, who can at least try and help ( as poppynurse advises ).
Contact the relevant dep't regularly so you can keep up to date with where they are with your claim.
