As to the doctor's attending you for medical examination ... ATOS ORIGIN or was.
| That's strange, then ... as you said you already claimed IB? For which you would have had a medical with the DWP appointed doctor? Surely you would also be aware, then, that this is the name of the company that the DWP employs privately *NOT NHS doctor's* to assess your medical needs? They also do the DLA medicals at your home. ATOS is just one of the private ones DWP uses. Quote: 1232 posts since May ..... I'm not supprised your eyes are tired
| No, you misunderstand ... They aren't tired. They are being affected by events taking place in my brain right now. Affecting my visual cortex so to speak. Slightly more things, more technical things to it than that but I don't wish to bore you or CAG with more medical terminology. Plus, not everyone may understand all the 'medicalbabble'.
Hence, I mentioned neurological beforehand. Sorry for the confusion and all.
I think right now ... if you want more advice on your claim ... would be a good idea perhaps to direct you to here: Youreable.com - The leading disability resource for disabled people
It's one of the leading websites for giving advice on claiming, anything really to do with things in that direction. Users are both people disabled, claiming or working in DWP, so can give inside info on how to apply. It may be beneficial to visit ... and put your case to them on there. And they will also help you *maybe, can't promise this* to with applying. They have many sections like CAG, dealing with appeals, legislation on benefits, many other things. If they cannot they may be able to direct you to the most appropriate source to help.
Problem is, whilst I can offer a listening ear, am limited on what else to suggest. But I'd advise a visit there TBH ... |

| Actually, I didn't ... DWP only dealt with my GP so I wasn't aware that ATOS was a company used by either DWP or DLA .... DLA just wrote with a time and date that a 'medical examiner' would visit to 'assess' my medical condition.
Apologies for the misunderstanding of your sight condition ... sounds like a nightmare .. how do you cope?
Thank you for the link to youreable.com .... I will go have a look shortly.
May speak with you later..........

| Re: Advice needed on 3rd DLA application SD you need to get immediate help with this form- see if your local council welfare rights officer can help. They will complete the form- are extremely successful due to dealing with DLA forms on an almost daily basis.
Also, if necessary, they will deal with any appeals and see if there is anything else you might be eligible for. They are also generally based in the social services department and so will be able to point you towards where you can access further help with care you need. Life when you are disabled is tough enough with out being deprived of life's necessities.

| Re: Advice needed on 3rd DLA application If the date is coming up that the form needs to be back by, get an appointment with LC welfare rights or CAB welfare/benefits specialist and then phone DLA to tell them you have only managed to get an appointment for "date" can they extend or at least make a note if you form is posted back late. |

DWP only dealt with my GP so I wasn't
| Well, what I really meant was ... that the doctor's who saw you for your test for your IB claim ... aren't NHS. Then there's the whole issue of decision makers who can overule, disagree with not only your GP/consultants records, but also the findings of the DWP doctor ... if they turned up sober that is. The trouble is, the system is stacked against you ... hence the forms, way they are worded, set out. It is all wrong, and severely disabled people have immense trouble understanding, let alone filling them in. And it is these people who need it. However, there seems to be a fair few out there who can play the system by waving a stick around ... and get passed. So the system stinks, as it seems to be 'let's stick a pin in the donkey today and see who we want to award DLA to' ... or what mood the DWP doctor was in. I could say more on this score, but there would be pages of it. Just imagine every worst aspect of a DCA, how they treat your account, you as a person ... times by a 1000.
And do not worry, I know exactly how terrifying the DWP can get ... I used to work for them. Seeing how the staff dealt with people, their files ... was enough to be concerned with. What the public don't see for example ... The others are correct, however ... you need to get it worded by someone familiar with this form. And, as I also said a few times, you SHOULD be getting DLA. Which is why I am bemused given what you said was wrong with you you aren't. |

| Re: Advice needed on 3rd DLA application Sorry -being driven spare by DCAs!
Honestly I have no idea. I got DLA after I won an appeal and got my IB back. I didn't have a medical. This doesn't mean the DWP won't be difficult and make you have another one. |
