Default DLA and motability

Hi
I am hoping this will be just a simple question for somebody o answer for me.

I have three children all who we receive DLA for. One at higher rate and the other two at middle rate.
We do not get mobility allowance.

We have just been looking around at cars as we are after a 7 seater. We need a newer model because one of our daughters has loads of allergies that are all air borne and seasonal so it needs decent air con as both girls have severe eczema so if they over heat then it is a nightmare.

Any way. We have been trying to decide what type of car we want so have been looking at car dealers to get decent pictures.

Whilst looking at KIA website we found that they said you can transfer DLA into a new car. It didnt say anyhting about mobility allowance which is the norm. So I spoke to a local KIA dealer and he said all we need is higher rate DLA and not mobility.

I still dont believe him. Has any body heard off this or has the dealer got it wrong.

Thanks
Olives

I thought you only qualified for a car on mobility if you had high rate mobility componant within dla.

The dealer has got it wrong, you only qualify for motability if you get the higher rate of the mobility element of DLA. (or the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement)

Motability - Am I eligible?
