Default contributions for c-Jsa

Hi,
have a huge problem and need any advise or aat least where to dig...
cut the story short:
I was refused contribution based JSA because I haven't paid enough contributions for the one of -applying-two years. The problem is I was on maternity leave (that contributions missing period) and then I took additional maternity leave (unpaid). I suffered postnatal depression as well which unabled to get any job-I "unfortunately" I wasn't bad enough to claim DLA plus I wasn't entitled to Income Support due to my husband working more than 16 hours/week. By the time we didn't have any help from HRMC, because our forms got stuck somewhere in their system. It was pretty tough and SSA decison didn't help...In a fact I felt very traumatised after our first visit with my oh- I was particularly told I am not entitled to anything. They were saying because I am EEA citizen (oh is English) i won't get anything until 2009 (which now I know is rubbish), anyway once the dood was shot I didn't come back at all.
Then, after unsuccesfuly trying to find a job, I turned to SSA for JSA, which I was refused.
My point is,
how you can get any help if you are not entitled to anything/ or they're saying so
what chance of being listened/at least/you have with arguing that you are a woman who doesn't want to be trapped in the benefit system so you want to get a job for which JSA would help-but you haven't paid enough contributions because you was pregnant (SMP doesn't cover enough stamps) and sick and looking after the baby???
