Angry Housing Benefit again!

Once again they have been reassessing my daughter HB. Now they say she owes them almost £100, as she has been overpaid since Jan 16th. They are now letting her have only about 2/3rds of her rent. But the benefits calculator on their website says she should be entitled to the full amount, with the money that she has coming in (all benefits with premiums for disability).

I have never seen so much paperwork that this council churns out and its is not at all clear what they are basing any of their calculations on. Keep thinking that I can sort it out on my daughters behalf, but they keep moving the goalposts and now I do not understand any of it. Where to now? Daughter not well enough to visit any offices, I have written authority to deal with the council on her behalf (they have a copy). Will try and telephone again this afternoon and see what is going on.

The Copuncil tax benefit has been sorted - at least for now!

Can I ask if there was a change in your daughter's circumstances which lead to the overpayment? If there wasn't then I would appeal their decision to recover the overpayment.

I am sure every Neighbourhood Office as a specialist benefits adviser. I would take all the paperwork to them to deal with. You obviously need more specialist advice.
