Re: HMRC - interest on overpaid tax? Back to my overpayments...as the Skillstrain claim draws towards its inevitable end, time to refocus...
There has been some slow moving two-way communication between HMRC and myself, the sort of attrition stuff that reminds you of treacle and wading...
Basically they won't give me info from 2001-2002 because it is now past six years, and it no longer exists. I argue that it was requested before the six year deadline...and that it was their own inefficiency that caused the lapse. I mentioned S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) a couple of times, and suggested that this would be my next course of action...
Come home today...a big PHAT! bundle, my non-requested Subject Access Request! It clears up a few things, not least why one of my overpayments was offset against existig liabilities, but lo and behold...2001-2002 is still absent.
So, a real scab-picking, pedantic and highly irritating Spicey letter will find its way shortly...but of course the added bonus is that I now know a lot of the jargon they use...nothing personal of course, but just that bit more of a splinter in the behind.
