Default JSA and Pensions
Having completed 25 years service with the Army I went to register for JSA. What a nightmare. Can anyone tell me if my Army Pension is taken into account when being assessed for JSA as I believe that it might be treated as a gift pension as I never paid into it Cheers

I'm in a similar situation to yourself. Filled in a a whole bunch of forms that made 'War and Peace' look like a short story, only to be told that I didn't qualify. Same thing happened to my elder brother when he left the Navy after 32 years service.

If you were on a pensionable engagement (22 or 32 years) then a sum of money will have been deducted from your pay each month for the pension. My pay statements show it as being GPC (acronym stands for Graduated Pension Contribution).

Theres were no deductions from my Army pay. Thats why I thought it was a gift pension.
