| carers alowance hi,can anyone tell me if i can or cannot claim carers allowance,i am on incapacity benefir followin breast surgery,and i look after my dad full time at my home hes 88 and very poorly and frail,but i dont seem to be able to claim carers allowance? |

| Re: carers alowance It appears that you are prevented from getting CA if you are in receipt of IB. Check this link: Carers UK : Rules
Also, you haven't told us if your dad is receiving disability benefits like DLA or AA.
It could be useful to call Community Legal Advice to ask for income maximization advice. |

| Re: carers alowance Yes, you are correct, you must be under 65 when you start your claim for DLA but if you claim before, then you can continue even if you cross that age limit.
Call CLS- they may check if your applicable amount is correct, whether your household is entitled to any extra benefits or premiums. |
