Default Changing Bank Details Emails

So far this evening I've had four fake emails asking me to change my details for my Lloyds/Halifax/TSB account to some new one... as their systems have 'magically' been changed overnight.... as if I would change these details on the strength of an email and a few days before payday....

Please warn non-aware friends and colleagues of this development, they could unwittingly send all their dosh to somebody in another country, in tracking the email headers two were from Germany and one from the USA and the other from Nigeria..

Watch your mailboxes carefully for these... they are really going to town on them and milking people's ignorance.

Been getting quite a few of these from "LloydsTSB" recently.

It ain't rocket science to spot them as they ask you to follow a link and confirm your security details.

They are very good in appearance though and I wonder how many people have fallen for it so far.

I get them every day for US Banks, English banks...I just forward them with the headers to the fraud or spam email addresses at the banks....

Agree completely, and I do the same, although there is a perversity in actually helping the banks to prevent losses...

The simple truth is this: any reputable bank would never ask you to do this in this fashion. Sure, they may send you an email warning of 'pending updates' but they would certainly never provide a click through link...at most they would suggest you log into your account and manage updates that way...
