Thats terrible isn't it. I cannot believe the lengths some families will go to on 'religeous grounds.' A couple of years ago near where I live an Asian girl went missing. She was found miles away in a river in the Lake District. She had been murdered. The investigation revealled that her family tried to marry her off in an arranged marriage. She was westerised and refused. She drank bleach to try and kill herself. She wrote poetry about the shame she had brought on her family and the problems she was now incurring with her family. The police arrested her parents and extended members of her family. They were released then taken in for questioning again. No one has been charged with her murder. The police only got involved looking for her when a teacher reported her missing after a couple of weeks. The family didn't report anything!

I know very little of the Muslim religion but I think generally all religions (apart from Budist) have a lot to answer for when it comes to needless pain suffering and death in the world.

I cant imagine any of the founding father's of any religion intended their teachings to cause suffering in the world, whether it is one child oppressed by their family or a whole nation at war with their neighbor of a different creed.

Its all very well politicians trying to sort out the worlds problems (and getting it wrong) I think maybe its time the church leader's stepped into the lime light and started to give their followers some positive direction for the 21st century.

That's dreadful, there was a missing woman round my way last year who was murdered by her uncle and a brother because she fell in love with the wrong person - her body turned up in a suitcase up north somewhere (and I'm 'down south'. She lived two streets away from me at the time.

I can't understand why people want to cover themselves completely in this way, it doesn't make sense in a Western society. I can imagine it in byegone times with nomadic tribes travelling around but not today... the number of people I see in central London dressed completely in Muslim clothing is quite worrying.
