Default Christmas may be cancelled

Don't tell the kiddies but Christmas could be cancelled this year if the National Union of Santas has its way.

Firebrand shop steward, Ray "The Sack" Nicholas, has threatened to call Santas everywhere out on a wildcat strike on December 24th if his demands are not met. He told me:

"The workload is becoming ridiculous. Management is expecting us to start earlier each year. New work practices demand that we start reading notes that have been put up chimneys as early as November and as for Christmas itself!

How would you like to cover the whole country in a night climbing up and down chimneys with heavy bulky bikes and computers? My knees are shot to bits mate!"

Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, is getting involved in the fracas as he has asked Nicholas to come to Downing St to discuss the crisis in person.

In the meantime, I suggest that all parents go out now and panic buy everything they can get their hands on just in case it all goes pear shaped.

I have it on good authority its actually Ray "The Sack" Nicholas who is visiting Gordon to discuss the note that was sent up the chimney of number 10.

Ray was heard muttering "the impossible I can do but thats just bl**dy stupid" but he refrained from disclosing the actual content of the note.

I don't know why Ray is complaining, surely a few CDs shouldn't be hard to get?.... Oh no, hang on...
