Default Inspire me...

I've already asked a couple of close friends, but am still looking for suggestions, so thought I would ask in CAGland...

I've now finished most of my Christmas shopping (even though I am male) and the only thing left on my list is a present or two for some homeless kids. Now normally, I buy for fairly young boys or girls as they're pretty easy to buy for - but everybody else has the same idea so the Children's home end up with a shortage of presents for the teenagers. So ideally, I'd like to buy a couple of presents for teenagers but I really have no idea what kind of thing to buy.

I realise they will probably be grateful to receive any present, but I also know teenagers are awkward! So would like to get something they would like.

So... any suggestions? Perhaps from parents of teenagers who know what kind of things kids want?

I would suggest something which is personal and they have as their own - for example, a diary or a calander with someone popular on it; make-up set for girls, body spray or hair products for boys.

I think a cross and chain would be very welcomed and touching to homeless kids in the teenage group

Ok! If it's teenage boys, I'm afraid it's gonna cost you a bit. Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP are still right up there I'm afraid But for a cheaper option, how about some footie stuff? Given that you're in Stoke, it ain't exactly gonna cost much for replica Stoke City stuff hun (and I'm not being sarcastic by the way!) But check with the peeps in charge of the children's home first and find out who the boys support. Some clubs also offer cheap tickets for under 18's - so you could possibly get them into a game after xmas for not too much.

Music wise for boys - my teen lad listens to anything 'gangsta' - i.e., total crap! Eminem, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks (whoever he is) etc.

Girls - slightly easier! Britney Spear's newest perfume (Fantasy) is a biggie with the girls right now. And it's half price in Perfume World (£18. You can also get some gorgeous (send your bird in for these) make-up sets from Boots - and they're on '3 for the price of 2' as well. That includes the nice 'body stuff' sets as well (e.g., body lotion, glitter lotion, etc).

Don't say I'm never nice to you now eh'?!

I am soooooooooo nice to you it's untrue!

Seriously, get yourself to Boots and bag up the 3 for 2 gifts. Nail polish sets, lip gloss sets, etc., little things that teen girls love and make them feel more 'grown up' and special. They do the same offers on the lad's stuff as well - Lynx gift sets an' all that. But it might be worth pursuing the cheap CD/footie stuff for them.

And I think you're doing a wonderful thing by the way. Takes very special peeps to think of others in this way.

I do my "shoe boxes" every year and for the teenagers, I would agree with Hedgey on the 3 for 2's - the bigger stores have a much wider variety and you can get some very good stuff there.

I would agree with the Boots 3 for 2 also, they've got some great stuff in for both boys & girls.

I work with teenagers and often have to buy them something the trouble is they are all different so I tend to go for a voucher smiths or boots they then have the chance to get what they want not what someone thinks they neeed and the anticipation in choosing is often better than the end gift
