Default Buy One Get One Free!

Hiya friends

Did you know that the word "bogof" as in buy one get one free, has now been deemed offensive by the politicallly correct brigade???

Apparently the supermarkets cannot refer to their offers as "bogofs" any longer and must refer to them only as "special offers"

I personally like that expression- I use it especially to debt collection agencies and cold calling salespersons on the phone

Its not swearing is it, so how can it be so offensive???

Love Spiritgirl x

Go on then lets list all the words the politically correct weirdows have stopped us from using. Hope we don't get into trouble...

Manhole cover -matienence access hatch

Blackboard - chalk board (changed because it was racist but what about white board?)

Golliwogs were banned for a while off Robinsons Jams (I think, I'm not sure but didn't Robinsons have to go to court to proove they were not being racist?)

I'm sure you can come up with others

We gave our students a grammar test recently. One of the questions was this:

Correct the grammar in the following sentence:

"A student is free to express their opinion."

The answer we wanted was to change "their" to "his or her".

However, some folk in the Eng department complained that this does not take account of transgendered issues, and is therefore discrimination.

Honestly!

PC madness, yet again

Can't they just delete as appropriate? I.e Tuesday 'him' and Wednesday 'her'. Its just your 'him or her' seems to offer a choice.

How's that discrimination?!

I am a youth leader in a very politically correct organisation and a few years ago was at the national conference where we debated, at length, whether we should change the option on the membership form from

Gender: male/female* delete as applicable

to

Gender:__________________

as it limited the options too much

What will a crab do now, if it is not able to NIP your finger with its claws?
Should we also rename a turnip "a turlittleJapanesegentlman"
Sorry, that's sexist...."a turlittleJapanesecitizen"
Sorry. that's sizist....."a turvertically-challengedJapanesecitizen"

My son has gone to Personchester today clothes shopping. What size should he ask for medium or large, will he be accused of being sizist?

(By the way is sizist a word?)
