| | Platinum Account Customer | Buy One Get One Free! Hiya friends
Did you know that the word "bogof" as in buy one get one free, has now been deemed offensive by the politicallly correct brigade???
Apparently the supermarkets cannot refer to their offers as "bogofs" any longer and must refer to them only as "special offers"
I personally like that expression- I use it especially to debt collection agencies and cold calling salespersons on the phone
Its not swearing is it, so how can it be so offensive???

| | Gold Account Customer | Re: Buy One Get One Free! We gave our students a grammar test recently. One of the questions was this:
Correct the grammar in the following sentence:
"A student is free to express their opinion."
The answer we wanted was to change "their" to "his or her".
However, some folk in the Eng department complained that this does not take account of transgendered issues, and is therefore discrimination.
Honestly! |

| | Platinum Account Customer | Re: Buy One Get One Free! PC madness, yet again
Can't they just delete as appropriate? I.e Tuesday 'him' and Wednesday 'her'. Its just your 'him or her' seems to offer a choice.
How's that discrimination?! |
