If someone disagrees with a decision made by a listing officer they have the right to appeal to a valuation tribunal.
The only problem is that the appeal has to be made within 2 months of notification from the local authority of their decision, or if the local authority does not respond, within 4 months of the initial complaint. It does state that out of time appeals can be allowed in exceptional circumstances. |

some time ago we managed to have our house moved down a band - by using the house prices on land registry for houses sold in the area at the time of valuation.
However I am more worried about our situation now.
We purchased the house in 2005 and it is definitely in a band below what it should be as it has had a large extension in 2002. We were told that houses should be re-banded when sold - but when we wrote to the council inviting them to visit - we heard nothing ( they obviously know about the extension as they gave planning permission
I wonder if they re-valued could they back date the charge
sorry did not mean to hijack your thread
