Default Gordon Brown Quote

Read this this morning:

Quote:
However his task was made more difficult after Lord West's intervention in a morning radio interview. He told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme: "I want to be totally convinced because I am not going to go and push for something that actually affects the liberty of the individual unless there is a real necessity for it. I still need to be fully convinced that we absolutely need more than 28 days."
But barely an hour later, after a meeting with Mr Brown and Home Secretary Jacqui Smith in Downing Street, he emerged from No 10 to tell reporters: "My feeling is, yes, we need more than 28 days."
Oh, Gordee FEELS that he needs to lock people up for over a month without charge or evidence. That's ok then.

I think he is probably having lots of feelings, mostly the sort you need to change your underpants for.

Mr Blair has left one hell mess behind for his old mate to clear up and I don't think Mr Brown has a clue what he is doing or where he is going. He has appointed a cabinet he doesn't trust to advise him and quite honestly I think he (and we) are in trouble.

Especially with more and more draconian measures put in place, for 'our own good'.

Forgive me for having my own thoughts and body.

Gordon had a feeling that it's best to take away more civil liberties against he wishes of the people there to protect us from that sort of thing.

Nice. I feel so much safer.

I've never felt threatened by the 'terrorist threat' - 50 people die in 3 years - about 800 have died from Police brutality in the same time.

I feel threatened by our governement, but maybe that's their remit.

.... I have to say, in the modern world, whatever country you live in, you seem to be one emergency decree away from a Dictatorship.

It was a soundbite on the BBC site - I don't know if it's true, and I haven't verified it elsewhere.

I do remember a news artice with the headline "Police to cut down on deaths in custody" - which I thought was great.

In fact, I have a tip that will really cut the numbers down - stop killing people.

Unfortunatly, you are with the 10% of people who really aren't important to the election strategy of the parties (i.e. the people who know anything about politics).

Cameron will never win office, because he looks like a slimey used car salesman.

( I love the way Cameron, who wrote the last manifesto, completly disowned it. And he never mentions his stint in the treasury )

At the moment, I am hoping for scottish independance, since it seems the only way that we'll get rid of the New Luddite party.

Salmond reckons we'll have it by 2017. I really don't know how I feel about that at present.

You could say that. There's much better parties to vote for up here.

i'm down here and i've looked at the arguements of all our parties and theres good and bad with all.
i live with my OH and our kids. i and my OH have full time jobs, as do the two eldest children. we pay mortgage, own a car and scrimp and save to try and get a holiday once a year. i pay more a fortnight in tax, n/i and pension than my OH picks up.
there is NOTHING that ANY party has ever given me except for labour years ago, when they came up with THE NEW DEAL and through that i got back into work. thanks to that we are better off now than we have EVER been.

Personally, as someone whose English, I'm not too concerned. i would really be worried if I was in imminent danger of being ruled by Salmond . ironically, the Scottish labour Party are a better option than the english... but that wouldn't be hard, would it?

I never vote labour, because of the way they stiched me up on student loans. i seem to remember "Education, Education, Education" rather than "Tuition Fees, tuition fees, tuition fees".

an Elephant never forgets

i agree that there have been many 'distracting' opinions given of their intention to do right by the people of England. but, there again, what have the other parties ever done.
like i said they all have good/bad points. you cant please all of the people all of the time.
