Advice on keeping a corn snake please!

Daughter is adamant she wants a corn snake for Christmas. Does anyone know
1. where to buy one
2. how easy are they to keep
3. how big do they grow
4. can they be aggressive
5. are they expensive

and any other things I should know about them before I say yes!

They can grow up to six feet and last about fourteen-fifteen years, m'dear - make sure she's in for the long haul! They're also quite good at escaping (get a heavy cage lid), but they're quite placid, so there should be no mad dashes 'round the house trying to chase her back in, you should be able to just scoop her up and pop her back. Err, what else... *racks brain* They like to bathe in their water dish, so make sure it's big, but when they get out you have to change the water 'cos it'll have made it unpotable...don't put your heat pad under the entire length of the cage, put it under half so that it can move to the other side if it gets too hot. That's all I can think of for now, they're pretty things with a nice nature - the lifespan would put me off slightly as I'm planning to move in the next three years or so, you'd have to make sure you were settled before getting one.

EDIT: Oh yeah, make sure you're the sort of person who can handle keeping frozen mice/chicks in your freezer too

As demon says they are very good at escaping !!! My mate has 3 corn snakes 1 Boa 2 Velvet Gekkos and at one time had Bearded Dragons ... Last year 1 corn snake (later called Houdini ) was missing for about 3 months found under the skirting board. The last time I went round another 2 of the corns had escaped 1 found in the neighbours bathroom the other was still at large

lol It's because they push things with their noses, it's quite cute to watch; my hamster does the same with his bin cage, snuffling at the lid, pushing it up to test it. Cornies are just a bit stronger than my hamster

Thanks for all your help guys! I don't know if all this new info might put her off or not! (lets hope so) It was so easy when she was younger! Barbies and rollerskates need no feeding!

Have to admit that the corns she has are lovely .... i remember her asking me to hold all 3 while she sorted their vivs out they were only little then and boy where they a handfull they cant half move when they want to lol

My m8 bred the beardies for a while had about 6 vivs for the beardies alone

I've got a canary at the moment as well as a hamster; I'm going to have to move to a flat with more than two rooms if I want to keep any reptiles or felines in the near future Mind you, the canary counts as a reptile - little bird-brain looks at me with the coolness of a snake and the arrogance of a tyrannosaurus if I'm even five minutes late with her breakfast...

I once had a 7' Burmese python as a pet called Raffles. (It really was my husbands pet). In the end we sold it off to a breeder because I was fed up with the ratsicles in the freezer. We then had a Iguana called Pugsley who loved to hang on my net curtains on a sunny day.
