| | Platinum Account Customer | Nasty People Now generally, I have no beef with Traffic Warden, but today, I parked in a 30 minute only zone because I needed to go to our local library which is literally 20 yards from the car, I was 5 - 10 mins, when i get back 2 traffic wardens writing up a ticket in readiness, I got to the car as they were writing.
I said to them "I'm going now" and the pair of em gave me the FILTHIEST look imaginable, I wasnt impolite to them, in fact i had a semi smile on my face (and today even that is an effort!!) .
If that is the way that they treat people then I am not surprised that people dislike the wardens. I have to add that there is usually an older ugandan gentleman there (I know he is ugandan because we always say hello and have a chat!) and he is charm personified.
RANT OVER , I need a coffee!! |

| | Platinum Account Customer | Re: Nasty People My parents live in a town centre with residents only parking and the nearest car park, at the other end of the High Street, is too far for me to walk. I'm not that bad that I get a blue badge though.
My dad however does have a blue badge, but not a resident's permit as they have a garage. Simple solution is that when I visit I park in their garage, he puts his car in the disabled bay - and before anyone gets cross there are plenty of disabled bays and they are never full. Even the resident's parking area is mostly empty during the day when I'm there.
Parking in the disabled bay is limited to 2 hours though, and the number of times we've gone out to find the warden standing waiting, ticket in hand, a good 10 minutes before the time is up. And you can see her looking as my Dad hobbles over as if she's checking he really is disabled just because she's been deprived of her ticket. Last time this happened - Friday.
But do they do anything about people parking in the loading bay directly opposite the garage (which effectively prevents me from getting out) and easily within sight of the disabled bays? No chance. If there's a lorry there unloading, fair enough, I just have to wait. But waiting for someone who's just 'popped to the bank' etc but can't be bothered to use the car park is a pain in the rear end.
Moral - park where you're not supposed to and get away with it, or park in a proper space for 1 second longer than you should and get a ticket.
Incidentally I have never, ever had a parking ticket and neither has my Dad.
Mostly I now go over there by train as there's free parking at my local station and it's a very short walk the other end, otherwise it seems a bit of a waste to drive 45 minutes each way for a 2 hour visit.
My rant over too! |
