Unhappy conn

hello everyone!
I have had a gruelling time with nat west lately , but after reading up on your website realised i am far from alone. I thought id tackle both my banks and credit cards. However i have found that my first stumbling block came from advice from the banks themselves. When i used your template for my first correspondence with them i then thought 'where do i send it to'? so i asked in my banks. They said to the manager of the branches. Wrong move. So i thought my first post may help anyone else as naive as me.
It is now obvious to me that you have to go higher than the branch managers , customer relation departments have almost been sympathetic to my dealings with my branch manager and advisors and promise to look into my case. It seems the defiant attitude of managers can only be put down to them showing potentially bad branch scores? As regards to my Barclays reponse to my initial request of a refund, they say ' we have had many telephone conversations about the charges with you at the time of their occurrence and would be happy to have a meeting with you to discuss how to avoid them in the future'. Please help i feel im starting to loose the hope. Can anyone give me a bit of support, or kick up the bum!

I would proceed with the letters templates on this site and always send them to head office or customer service address for the bank in question, this way they are escalated to the correct departments and seem to follow a set process.

If you need any more assistance feel free to ask.

Welcome.

How much 'reading up' have you really done?
Have you read the FAQs, or the step by step guide?
Have you sent the Data Protection Act request or do you have all 6 years statements?
Which letter have you sent?

You need to read through the FAQs and then the step by step guide.
You send off the Data protection act letter asking for your last 6 years of statements. (they must give you a reply within 40days) Send everything recorded delivery (it only costs a quid)
You can send this one to your branch or the Data Protection Act address
Barclays Bank plc - Data Protection
Radbroke Hall
Knutsford
Cheshire
WA16 9EU

Work out how much they have stitched you up with in Unauthorised O/D fees Paid Referrals etc
Then send them the Preliminary letter asking for your money back within 14days
They will send back a letter saying you agreed to their terms etc and so its tough luck.
Send this to the person who sent you the letter at
Barclays Bank PLC
Leicester
LE87 2BB
After the 14 days from your Preliminary letter (ignoring their response unless they pay up) send them the Letter Before Action telling them thay have 14 days before you start court proceedings.
They may respond with a derisory offer of 50% or less of your claim - if they do send them a thanks for your offer which I accept as an interim payment but I am continuing with my claim for the full amount.
These letters can also go to Leicester
After 14 days from your LBA start court proceedings.
You can do this with a form from your local court or do it via Money Claim On Line (MCOL)
You will get more advice as you carry on with your claim.

Red face Re: conn

Thanks for your patience. I have all my bank statements detailing my charges already and so included this in my preliminary letter. I am unclear as to whether it is essential or not if i have to apply for and send the data protection report with it.

Hi,

If you have kept all of your statements then I cant see why you would need to send a Data protection request letter. If it was me I would just send add up the charges and send the prelim letter to the banks head office. Should be shown on your statements, or if not then search the threads for 'contact address'

hth and good luck!
