Default Time for Barclaycard

Please help, does anyone have an address for Mercers?

Barclaycard transferred my O/H's debt to mercers but we can't find an address anywhere! We are in a DMP yet they have sold the debt. Been battling with the bank and filed MCOL on 22nd Feb, so thought I'd take this on as well and start a new thread.

Thanks all.

Hi Mamatemi1,
Did you know that Mercers are Barclaycard? Which means they have not sold the debt to anyone. They use the Mercers name to intimidate people. I believe they use Credit Solutions Ltd when they sell debts. This is Mercer's address:

Mercer's Debt Collections
PO Box 55
Liverpool
L32 8XX

The phone number is: 08704 100 385

All the best,
Paul

Thanks a lot. I know, they were trying intimidatory tactics with OH by telling him on his statement that the debt was now with Mercers who have never written. My CCA request should be a bit of a suprise!!

I haven't put in a claim for this..time and money, but B/card failed to meeet CCA and have sent back to Mercers again. Told them on the phone last night that I don't deal with finance over the phone and refused security questions. Sha says, 'how will I know who you are? Doh, you called me??

Looking forward to this one!!

Hi mamatemi, saw that you were reading my thread, and had a look at your situation (hope you dont mind! here to help! ), I thought that the letter which Curlyben posted on my thread would be a good one for you to use against Mercers. I have linked the post here if you need it! help with Mercers (permalink)
Just edit it as needed, and fill in the relevant gaps, and send recorded to Mercers!

Glad that you are feeling better about things mamatemi, it is so much better when everything is put in writing both at your end and at the creditor's end! Hope that your letter does the trick!

Hi Red, these guys are refusing to put anything in writng and won't stop calling (don't worry, I only pick up the phone when I feel like tweaking someone's tail!) mostly hanging up when they come up against my call screening, I think we are on automatic dialler. I have told them my OH runs a pub and doesn't do normal hours and write to him if they want his attention but still no good the calls are unending. Will sending a telephone harrassment letter do any good? To be honest I am sure the calls are more of a nuisance to them than to us since we are all out most of the day and OH all night!

Hi Mama,

These idiots seem to ignore all the rules and regulations - for this reason you should write and complain to OFT, your Local Trading Standards Office and copy the letter to BC and Mercers.

You need to actively chase for the o/s info you require from BC - then you SHOULD have protection against harassment/collection from OFT Debt Collection Guidelines.

See here - http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/bus...dit/oft664.pdf - and consider using one or more of these sections:-

2.6(a) re frequent contact

2.6.(h) ignoring your contention that debt is in dispute

2.8(i) failing to investigate/provide details (re missing info they still owe you)

2.8(k) not ceasing collection while investigating queried or disputed amount.

Also use this - Harassment by telephone - response letter
