Default Rpjones78 V Barclaycard

Hi there!

I am in the process of getting my money back from Barclays, and all is going good. I was thinking back to my days as a barclayscard holder and remembered that they charged me several times, so would like to try and claim money back from them too. Only thing is that the account has been closed for about 2 years and I only have limited info left. Infact I can only find one statement from 1997!!! This was when I first opened the account when I was in college. The info on this is limited - it has my old college address and an account number, but I cant seem to see a sort code! I realise I will need the sort code for my prelim letter won't i? on the letter, do you think I should mention that I had several addresses during my account history so as that they are able to track me down? I am also a bit worried as to whether they will actually have any of my statements left as the account has been closed for a while.

Sorry to go on!

Hope someone may be able to advise...

Best wishes,
Rich

You would need to supply all the addresses you used while holding the account. They may also require further proof of identity.
You can claim back for up to 6 years.... beyond that you run into the statute of limitations.

Regards, Rooster.

Many thanks for your help Rooster. I will have a dig about to see if I have any other information from this account. I seem to re-call that the charges didnt start coming in until around 2002/3, so hopefully I will have some luck!!

Credit Cards don't have sort codes so that's ok then. Just the account number and as rooster said, all your addresses. Barclaycard will attempt to delay you as much as possibly, so don't give them an easy reason for delaying like missing off addresses and stuff.

Think you need to be aware of Barclaycards tactics before you go obtaining this data as they are being real awkward. Tanzarelli vs Barclaycard should give you an idea as he has a similar account (closed 2 years, trying to get data beyond that).

I would think you will struggle to get anything beyond the 6 years.
