Correspondence:
Barclaycard House,
PO Box 5592,
Northampton
NN4 1ZY

Quote from small print at bottom of standard Barclaycard stationery:-
"Barclaycard is a trading name of Barclays Bank PLC. Barclays Bank PLC is authorised and and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.
Registered in England. Registered No: 1026167.
Registered Office: 1 Churchill Place, London E14 5HP"

I reckon that the correct address then is:-
Barclays Bank PLC,
Trading as Barclaycard,
1 Churchill Place,
London.
E14 5HP

Also look at
Link to Companies House Webcheck Service
Tools to help you - Find information on a company
Click the Webcheck link

do a search for Barclaycard
this comes out as BARCLAYCARD FUNDING PLC with a registered number of 02530163

double click on the name

Note the address is the same as Barclays Bank PLC but that is a different Company ignore it.

Now a search for Barclays Bank PLC gets you:
BARCLAYS BANK PLC
1 CHURCHILL PLACE
LONDON
E14 5HP
Company No. 01026167

which matches what Barclaycard print on their stationery when they cannot avoid it.

Barclaycard is Barclays Bank PLC and Barclaycard is simply a trading name used by Barclays Bank PLC.

Not information the rats tend to make easily available <g>

Hello All.

Received the exact same letter outlined below today 20/04/07, the contact address on this letter,

Barclaycard
Barclaycard House
PO Box 5592
Northampton
NN4 1ZY

Telephone 0870 154 0154

"I got a reply from a customer relationship manager from the manchester address within 5 days. They disagreed with the legal analysis but offered to refund the difference between the OFT recommnded charge of £12 and the late payment charge of £20 as a good will gesture. I have sent a rejection letter asking for the full amount to the same office.

I dont think it matters which address you use or which person replies - it will be forwarded internally to the right peson. Good luck!"

Will be doing exactly the same, interesting that on the letter they state "we believe that our charges are both fair and transparent"?

way to go !

yup I had the same form letter.

I started a small claims court action yesterday against Barclaycard. I am claiming the charges, the interest on the charges and statutory interest on the charges. Admiitedly, the charges are a few years old, but the claim (with interest) is for more than the rats stole off me. Bit of a pain to work out the interest on the charges but well worth it.

If anyone wants a copy of the spreadsheet then email me.

If you go to the small claims court you have to use the Barclays Bank PLC registered address on form N1 - the statement of claim. If you use Manchester or Nottingham then Barclays will reject the claim as the address is not the registered office of Barclays Bank PLC. The defendant should be:-

Barclays Bank PLC,
Trading as Barclaycard,
1 Churchill Place,
London,
E14 5HP

I used the local County Court rather than the website and found the people there exceptionally helpful. Get your photocopies done first - the court charges 50 pence per page. Form N1 has to have both sides copied. Get three copies plus originals.

Hi newey499

Would be grateful if you could forward the spreadsheet you used.
Did you reject there initial offer outright or did you take partial settlement and pursue the balance? I'm not sure what avenue to go down, not bothered about rejecting there offer and going to the next stage, but advice seems accept the "goodwill offer" as partial settlement and pursue the rest. As you are at the court stage your knowledge would be extremely helpful and much appreciated.

Thanks

I did get a partial offer - the standard "yup but it costs us £12 and the FSA says this ok". Rejected it. A form letter undated and unsigned.

don't accept the partial offer, by accepting you imply acceptance of the Bank's argument. In the unlikely event that it ever comes comes to Court acceptance of a partial offer can be used as an argument. Always head letter s with the words "WITHOUT PREJUDICE" which means that any corresspondence may not be entered as evidence.

Also, always use recorded post and never ever entertain a telephone conversation.

Hi folks no disrespect meant but could we keep this thread for just addresses and not general bank discussions, it just means that people looking for info can find it without trawling shed loads of stuff.

Hi newey499,

I see now what you are referring to and helping out people is fine but they need to be directed to setting up their own threads, disussion of partial settlements is off topic, and cloggs up this thread for others that still just need a contact address for Barclaycard. These off topic discussions are fine I agree but could they be left to personal threads in the relevant bank forums.
