Well guys......

Stuff is certainly getting thro' to the Manchester address. Think it's unlikely that they are refusing all recorded deliveries - surely not all their mail can be writs!?

I'm thinking that the chances are that they have received it.

Does anyone know if there's a number for the data protection department that I can call? Or do customer service departments normally have the ability to determine whether a request has been received?

hi, just got letter and copy statements back today from Skycard (barclay card in another guise). bit more daunting when it actually shows. do i just highlight the charges and send back with the next letter. Another point is if the charges change in amount, ie they are £25 then go to £12, this around the time that the charges were deemed to high, can i still claim for the new amount? Also,i cant see how, if i am over limit, but make a payment that doesnt bring me back within the limit, that i can be levied a charge, its not like i`m not making payment? the over limit charges are mainly the ones that got me in trouble in the first place and these were always more than the payment i was making, easy to see how, when you are over a barrel, that you end up in trouble. sorry for rambling at the end of this thread, but i need to speak to like minded people, not some mong in a foreign call centre!!

(Yes you can as this as just because they set them now at £12 following OFT ruling April 06, it doesn't mean this is a true reflection of their costs.) PS have you started your own thread? You need to go to the relevant forum and start thread by clicking the new thread button at the top of the relevant bank forum, give it a title and then start your first post. This section is for address' etc.

Hi welcome to the CAG! You have made your first step in getting back what is yours.

May I suggest you read around a bit, in particular the FAQs and some of the threads on the Barclay's forum. Find your way round this site. Then when you have done so start your own thread for your claim as Zonked vs Barclay's in the main Barclay's forum. You will get much more help in getting your money back in that way!

I would use this to avoid PO Boxes and you can send rec del or special delivery.

It is the head office of Barclays but will be passed on to the Barclaycard division:

I sent the Subject Access Request to the 1234 Pavilion Drive address via recorded mail a couple of weeks ago however like others have found Royal Snail are still reporting the letter as not delivered yet....

Could anyone tell me if despite the letter seaming to have disappeared if they still got a response, or should I resend it to Barclays head office (Churchill place) as I received a letter back from Barclays very promptly (they also returned the cheque and offered to provide the information free of charge).

Any help appreciated!

My story in as brief as poss, so bear with me.

I sent my first letter to Barclaycard 2nd Feb 2007 (so the 40 day limit is now up) & here was their reply ...

DATA PROTECTION ACT 1998 - Subject Access Request

"Further to your request for copies of your credit card statements, we are writing to let you know about 2 things; 1st to enclose part of the information you have requested and 2nd; to explain the position with regard to the other statements you asked for.

Enclosed you will find copies of your credit card statements from May 2004 to the present time. These statements are stored on comnputer. We will be sending your statements prior to this date later. These statements are stored on microfilm (rather than computer) and take more time to search and reproduce. We will get this information to you as soon as we can. This is likely to be within the next 6 weeks or so.

Statements requests are being processed in the order in which they have been received to seek to ensure fairness. The Data Protection regulator, the Information Commissioner, has been made aware of the position and knows that we are writing to you in these terms. The Information Commissioner is also aware that whilst we are endeavouring to supply this information as quickly as we can, we do not consider that the microfilm statements fall within the scope of the Data Protection Act 1998. Nevertheless, we are happy to provide these as a gesture of goodwill."
