Default How about this for a waste of Money!!!

I have only had my Barclaycard for a short period of time and the credit limit is very low!. In the first month I accidently went over my limit by £10 and consiquently suffered a £20 charge.

So I took the flack after all it was my fault for not adding up properly, until I found this site. I have a claim against Barclays in motion at the moment and so I wrote to Barclaycard to ask for the £20 back. How naive was I to believe that they would pay it back without a problem????

I had a letter from them saying the usual 'Sorry you are not happy with this etc.,etc., we will get back to you by 9th August'.

Now then, how much did the admin cost to send this letter and basically say 'No way Jose' for a £20 claim.

So in summary I am going to push all the way on this one because I cannot believe how damned petty their response was.

Would be interested to hear other peoples views on this.

I'd phone them up and just ask for it to be refunded. They often do refund your very first charge automatically, but phoning should do the trick.

Hi, I'm glad someone out there is blessed with some sanity, you are right phoning would be easier. If I were to chase them through the normal channels then I would be lowering myself to their level - god forbid.

Thanks.

Not so much that. but very time consuming for £20! Give them a call now - be polite. Point out it's the first time, and this charging will only compound your situation. Then.. if need be - you have all the information about the illagality of the charge up your sleeve!

They may well offer to reduce it to 12.00 - don't accept this! The OFT have NOT said 12.00 is a 'fair charge' - merely the amount at which they will become involved!

good luck!
