Exclamation Barclaycard - Charging extra fees above £10 for DPA info

I have received a reply to my request to Barclycard for info under Data Protection Act which includes the following:

"If you require copies of your statements under the Data Protection Act, subject access copy statement requests cost £10. Statements back to May 2004 can be requested, but prior to this date they must be requested from our archives and each copy will cost £3.

For statements up to May 2004 the £10 cheque must be payable to Barclaycard and the request must be put in writing to: Data Protection Team, Dept LRC, Barclaycard, Nortampton NN4 7SG.

For statements prior to May 2004 the charge will be debited to the Barclaycard account and a statement issued to you for payment."

Could someone please tell me

1. Where in the Data Protection Act does it give Barclacard the authority to charge extra for statements prior to May 2004?

2. Who decided the cut-off should be May 2004?

3. How can I get the info I am entitled to, without incurring the extra charges for going through the archives?

hi, im not certain about this but if u ask for previous statements i think they can charge for these but if u ask for all the data they hold about charges applied to your account they have to give you this under thedata protection act and are allowed to charged a maxmum of £10

1. It dose'nt £10 is max you should pay

2.Barclaycrap

3.estimate your charges and let them prove the difference in court (if they can then they have defaulted themselves under Data Protection Act 1998 for not providing you with transactional data they hold against you).
