right i'll try and get some order into this.
you need to find out what state this supossed CCJ is at firstly.
then you need CCA HFO cause i think they are a DCA? and have prob brought this debt from barclays?

if what you are saying is true [1999-2000] then all of this is supid as it should be statute barred, if so the court needs to be informed and [yet another] reason to get it set aside.

if HFO are a DCA i would not pay them a penny till they cough with a CCA, that should show it is being statute barred if what you are saying is true.

DONT talk to them on the phone, ever.
request all comms in writing.

next is to contact the OFT etc as what they have been threatening you with is totally outside their published guidelines.

i would go over to the debt collectors forum and start a thread there & do some reading.

They do buy debts and have no respect for anybody or there feelings no matter what the circumstance, the ones I have dealt with were very nasty, thanks to this site I have got rid of them for the moment.
