| | Basic Account Customer | How to negotiate settlement? Hi Everyone,
Now I keep reading on here, and also hearing from peeps elsewhere, about settling with a creditor in the region of 30-40% of the original debt. I can't seem to get a better offer than 20-25% - one doughball company even hit me with a settlement figure of 105%.
Are there any techniques, tried 'n tested methods or recommendations for negotiating settlements? What are your experiences?
Thanks,
MM
PS - Please complete the poll if you've negotiated a settlement(s)!!
PPS - If possible, please post up some details of the settlement, such as when, the amounts & the company. Maybe we'll find some patterns!!

Depends on how lucky you are on the day though! | This means you settled at around 70% with a 30% discount. |

eg. 10k debt.... 40% = 4k, 20% = 2k....i know which i'd prefer to pay lol!! |

some people really do decide to move for real.
maybe later they actually do move or change their mind. |
