Unhappy Council Tax and Bailiffs

Pls Help. The Bailiffs have been to my house and I signed a form to say they can take the listed goods. I have offered to pay the money in installments but they want the full payment. I went to my Council and they said once it has been given to the Bailiffs there is nothing they can do. What do I do before they come and get my things.

get onto the CAB or payplan fast. if you have signed a "walking possession order" you are at their mercy. For future reference you should never let them in and never sign anything, but thats no good to you now. Go to the CAB and get them to either call or write to the bailiffs with a personal budget and an offer. They may accept it. but on the other hand they may not and you might have to borrow your way out of this one. have a look at Bailiffs and Bailiff Laws | Payplan

payplan and the CAB are the people you should really talk to, but do it fast.

Just thought further on this has he left any sort of bill or statement showing how much you owe? is the amount he's charged seem excessive? then you may be able to slow things down a bit.

you can ask for a breakdown of costs

he is allowed to charge £22.50 for the first visit, £16.50 for the second visit, I think that can charge a warrant fee of £40 (no too sure on this one). if you have let them in they can charge £11 for the levy (and probaly a van fee too)

Anything over and above this is suspect ask at the cab or payplan but get some help quickly
