Default talk talk

Were any exsisting customers contacted by talk talk with an offer of free calls for life to a group of up to ten numbers? You had to give the ten numbers to the advisor and he in turn would contact them and try to sell them talk talk. The interesting bit is that even if he was unsucessful all calls to these numbers would stay free.
I have received two bills (at least) since this call and am still being charged for these numbers. After spending an hour being bounced from customer service to sales to broadband...... i kid you not i was cut off

thanks in advance for any replies

Stuart

Im not too sure who owns Talk Talk now, I think it is car phone warehouse that was orriginally bought out by Centrica who at the time owned British gas communications. BGC was failing at the time and was running on a huge loss with these horrid dumb dialers you plugged into your phone line to divert calls to BGC from BT. I know they had a contract with car phone warehouse were they did mobile phones contracted to Vaodafone.

I worked for BGC for their first 3 years of setting up as a senior tech support on the home phones and moved onto their ISP. When I left they were talks of transfering all their customer data base to carphone warehouse once Centrica bought them. Not sure of the structure now though.

All my calls on TalkTalk are free anyway... and for Telephone I've always had excellent Customer Service. Broadband is another matter entirely...

Hi Stonelaughter
I have just re-read your post how come all your calls on talk talk are free? Surely you mean your calls to other talk talk customers are free?

I did have TalkTalk for 6 months, but I never got the confidence to move my broadband service. Judging by the remarks on various internet sites, I'm glad I didn't!

My phone started ringing itself 24 hours a day, which ended up with me having to unplug it when I was in and asking people to call my mobile. Despite two engineer visits, and 3 people at TalkTalk telling me I was imagining it, I was causing it or being laughed at, I contacted BT. They sympathised, gave me the same package for the same price and moved me back - surprise surprise, no dodgy phone-ringing! as for TalkTalk, well I know more about the law than they do and I took it to the point where they started to threaten me. After some collecting of evidence, they waived it and let me go. Been with BT since, and no problem at all..except my line rental is £11.99 and not £20.99 and my broadband is free from Orange, so I'm nearly £10 a month better off

Like StoneLaughter, I have to say my phone service from TalkTalk has been great. All my calls are free and as my parents live in Ireland and Germany, they are free as well. The broadband has been a little up and down though lol

Nope... I'm on their "Talk 3 International" plan, and ALL my calls are free to landline numbers in the UK. Obviously 08xx numbers (except 0800) are not free as always, and mobile numbers are cheaper than BT but not free. I can call 28 countries in the world, also free of charge.

Hiya Stoney hun - I think the OP means free calls to anyone, whether with TalkTalk or not, whatever package etc. I know you get free calls to everyone, but would I be right in saying that you do pay a higher fee [so much per month] for the priviledge [sp?] - I used to be on Talk2 and payed a set amount each month so that I could call anyone at certain times of the day for free.

That's right, yes, I get free calls to anyone, any time of day, any landline network... but I pay £9.99 per month I think for the privilege - however this does not include line rental which is an additional £11.99. (I don't have to pay BT at all because I am "unbundled" from BT). Here's my latest Bill Summary:

Talk 3 International 23/11/06 - 22/12/06 £9.99 TalkTalk Broadband £0.00 Call Charges £5.80 Line Rental 23/11/06 - 22/12/06 £11.00 Voice Mail 23/11/06 - 22/12/06 £0.00 Total (inc VAT*) £26.79

The £5.80 for calls includes calls to mobiles and any fixed rate numbers (0870 etc). Most of the calls on my bill have "0.00" as the charge. Just to hammer this home, I made 250 calls this month...
