Default Bailiff charges and change of address

Hi

Could anyone tell me if a bailiff charge of £460 seems high to attend our home with a van to remove goods.

There was noone home so we don't even know if they brought a van.

Secondly they were aware we had moved address yet turned up at the old house.

Do you think this was just them trying to add fees to the account?

Thanks in advance

I think that you have answered your own question.

This amount is WRONG.

Can you post more details. Had the bailiff previously been into your home?

Had you signed anything?

Was this for a parking ticket or council tax?

Hi

Many thanks for replying.

Its for Council tax. Unfortunately due to initial ignorance they have been in and have a walking possession ut not for very much as we were in the process of moving.

It was for 2 liability orders and they seemed to have charged ok for this visit - although they did charge £24.50 x 2 even though it was only 1 visit that covered the 2.

We made an arrangement of £200 of which we have kept up to date. We have paid them £1000 so far.

The problem is that a new liability order came through and they decided to send us a letter telling us that the amount has now gone up to £670 which is impossible for us.

We have tried writing to Bristow and Sutor and writing / calling the council but noone is interested. The bailiffs ignore the contents of our letters and the council tell us to speak to the bailiffs.

Then we get a hand delivered letter to the old address even though they know we have moved (they have acknowledged this in a letter we have) and have charged us £460 for the pleasure.

We have stressed in all correspondance that we do not dispute owing the money and that we are happy to pay back at a maximum of £250.

Sorry this is so long winded.
