Has anyone here received one of these final warning letters thru their door, got one today and just wondering what to expect and if they'll turn up?

Nothing outside, windows closed, housemated won't let them in

Unless they have a judgement against you through the court, they cant turn up without commiting trespass. Probably just a scare tactic, but could do with more details...

Ah, well it sounds official if its through the court, but you should have received something from the court anyway. I don't know the ins and outs of where you stand with this, so its best to wait until someone with "the knowledge" comes in to have a look (yes.. the knowledge.. all the clever ones are actually London taxi drivers lol.. ok, sorry, I'll shut up now). Seriously though, I guess the best thing you can do, unless told otherwise by somebody else, would be to lay low and let your housemate answer the door, and just say you're not there.

Mad Matt

Can you let me know what the date of the letter was and when you received it. Did you keep the envelope? The reason for this is that our office are seeing so many letters from this company that are being sent by second class post and dated nearly a week ago.

Did you receive details of the fine?

If not you will need to complete a very simple Statutory Declaration that will ensure that all action ceases? Can you let me know.

The bailiff fees for the collection of these fines is set by the government so can you et me know what he is asking for.

Be careful. The bailiff can have what is called a clamping order so park a car away from your home. DO NOT LET THE BAILIFF INTO THE HOUSE. He will be looking to have the debt paid within a very short period of time of around 90 days but this can be extended.

Finally, the warrant expires after 180 days so you need to contact the issuing magistrates court for details of the warrant date.

Hi Tomtubby,

Spoke to the bailiff after several notices a couple of weeks ago and he was very polite and agreed to give me a couple of weeks to get the money together, however I can't raise the money and the deadline has just expired.

My house mates are very aware of the law in this matter and so he will not be able to gain entry under any circumstances, my car is away from the house. My house mates will immediately call the police and file a form4 if he even looks at theirs.

I believe that the Sat Dec needs to be sworn at the magistrates court?
The fine dates from 2001 and I never received anything about it (Road tax bought with cheque and cheque bounced in confusion of moving!

Thanks for your help, he may call tomorrow after one of my housemates told him I'm working away. I have already verified that he is certified

Thanks in advance

This is identical to one that we dealt with just yesterday and is very simple to deal with.

You need to file a Statutory Declaration that is specifically worded for this situation. This will ensure that this is put to one side.

The Statutory Declaration can EITHER be sworn in the Magistrates Court but the ones that we have done have all been sworn at a local firm of solicitors and cost £5 to have sworn.

This will then need to be sent to the Magistrates Court that is in charge of the collection. This is not necessarily the court where the fine was handed down.

I have PM'd you.
