Default Halifax closed bank account PLEASE HELP

I have a current account with halifax and also a basic passbook account for my limited company. I have got into trouble with the current account going overdrawn and they have now frozen my business account. The business account was all run properly and there are funds in it but not enough to clear the current account.

I have my salary paid directly into my company account and with it frozen I cant access it and due to bad credit history cant open another business account. Can anyone tell me if this is legal and if they know of any other banks which offer basic business account without credit searches so I can have my wages paid into this.

I dont want to find myself working without being able to get paid

Thanks for your help

Chris

Hi Chris, not a nice situation, might be worth going to have a chat with them, you might be able to offset against a loan/mortgage if you feel it might help...

Thanks but i have tried to talk to them and they just inform me that the current account is closed and the funds will remain frozen until outstanding amount has been cleared from the current account. Strange if the account has been closed.

Also Chris don't forget to claim back any excess charges + 8% compounded interest do you feel there may be a substantial amount of excessive charges on the account ? It seems obvious that they will not budge, I think you'll have to shop around the high street banks !!
