To avoid any trouble I would advise that a cheque is sent with a letter to say that you are enclosing an amount of £24.50 plus vat for the bailiff visit to your property on Feb 27th representing a first visit to the property by their bailiff.

State that the payment of the liability order has been made in full and that the cheque is in settlement of their account.

You may disagree with the above but we have a poster here on CAG who's car was clamped for exactly the same situation that you have mentioned here. The car was clamped when he owed £24.50 !!!

I wouldn't threaten a bailiff, show him a copy of the receipt through a window & just ask him to leave.

He'll only be arrested if the bailiff threatens or initmidates you, if that happens then call police on 999 report a robbery in progress with the suspect on the premises, hand the police a copy of the receipt through a window.

Your hubby'll be charged with common assault. The debt is paid and the bailiff has lost his case.

If the bailiff does return, report back here and we'll advise with further options, you can be more awkward than the bailiff can ever be!
