Default Are these charges legal ?

I was paying Council Tax arrears to High Court Enforcement Officers for over 2 years. I went in thier office as i thought i couldnt owe much then and would be able to pay them off all together. To my astonishment i actually owed them more than what i did in the first place even though i paid them £50 a month EVERY MONTH ! . When i asked them for a breakdown in what i owe i was told that they could not supply me with such details and had to pay what they said i owed. They would not even allow me to speak to someone higher up. In the end i did get a sheet with some info on. I will list it below .....

Command Figure £1740.85
Cost of Execution £101.75
Extra Costs £58.75
Accurred Interest £36.86

Due to claiment solicitor £1875.46
Poundage (inc VAT) £57.06
Officers Cost £187.65
Total Balance £2124.17

Daily Interest £0.30
Daily walking possession rate £0.29

The above is as its listed on my sheet which also include a list of payments i have made.

I have since been able to get the Council to take the debt back on and im now paying them directly. If it wasnt for these charges this would have been finished a good while ago. Is there anything that i can do to claim any of these back ?

Any help would be apreciated.
Rob

Regulation 13 of The High Court Enforcement Officers Regulations 2004 lays down what HCEO's can charge. Much of your items dont appear to be prescribed.

It looks like they have been defrauding you all this time. Heres how to make a complaint

Edit: see also Regulation 45(2) Council Tax (Administration and Enforcement) Regulations 1992

Also make a complaint to the council in writing using this template. Councils are liable for their bailiffs.

Thanks for that. If i am able to claim back my charges then most of the debt would be paid off leaving me more money to clear up others .
I will keep you updated so that it might also help others.
