Default break-in bailiff banned

just read this article by a 'gemma wheatley' in our local paper. the croydon guardian.

a bully bailiff who forced his way into a croydon familys home has had his licence revoked.
julie sutton and her partner were terrified when self-employed 'nathan bachelor', working for 'equita', woke them up and forced his way into their addiscombe home.

the debt collectors were looking for the previous tennants of their home, who had failed to pay a £50 parking fine issued by croydon council.

the men from the northampton based company also woke up the couples 3 year old daughter and refused to leave when asked.

they then unplugged electrical equipment and threatened to take them away, despite being repeatedly told that the people they were looking for had gone. it was only when the police were called the men left the house.

northampton county court took action against 'equita' and 'mr batchelor' was called to explain his actions.

last week a judge took away his licence and ms sutton and her family were awarded £2000 compensation. end quotes.

i would have loved to have been in court to see the faces of those so called gentlemen.

Fantastic News !

The more bailiffs become aware that people WILL stand up for their rights the more likely they are to behave !

If everyone who does have Bailiffs at their door should remember you do not have to let them in. I have had to deal with Equita and was horrified how they behave. Write to the council who you are under and complain you never know they may just stop using them if enough complaints are recd.

... and gather as much evidence as possible (including any neighbours who may have heard / seen something).

Try to deal ONLY with the Council (copying-in the bailiffs) - then the need for bailiffs will disappear and the poor things will be out of work !
