Introduction to The Consumer Forums

Giving you the POWER to take control.

Welcome to The Consumer Forums

We are an Internet based Group which is concerned with all aspects of the Consumer Rights - and already have a great deal of experience and expertise in reclaiming bank charges.

However, The Consumer Forums are much more than a bank charges pressure group. Over the last couple of years we have developed forums to help people deal with debt problems, payment protection insurance, parking and traffic offences, mobile and fixed line telephone companies, utility companies, retail storeslandlord and tenant issues, along with many other consumer related issues.

And what's more - all our advice and asistance is free of charge.

The Consumer Action Group, and The Debt Action Group are here to provide you with a community where you will find you are not the only one to have the kinds of problems you are dealing with. You will also find that by working with others to solve your financial difficulties gives you the strength and knowledge you need to take back control of your life.

We are also pleased to announce the setting up of a sister website especially for dealing with health issues - The Consumer Health Forums.

We also now host the ConsumerWiki and a Consumer Review Forum where you can tell us about any product or service which you have bought - good or bad.  Read other Consumer Reviews too in our Consumer Review Centre.

We provide free advice, support, encouragement, and materials to anybody who wants to assert  their Right in respect of any consumer problem. We attempt to empower ordinary people and to reawaken the slumbering culture of Consumerism: Reclaim the Right !

What is the true cost of bouncing a cheque?

The cost of employing a bank clerk to bounce a cheque may be less than £2 each time a customer goes overdrawn.

As the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has been cleared by their recent test case victory over extortionate overdraft charges to continue a full scale investigation into the cost of banking, this crucial issue will be at the centre of its deliberations.

The BBC has been shown one way of making this calculation, derived from an internal Yorkshire Bank study. These details have led one MP with an interest in the matter to describe as "extortionate" the charges some banks levy on customers who break their overdraft limits - which can be as much as £38!
