Hi, I have two business accounts with the A&L one of them for about 5 years and the second one (now closed) for about two years.

I have added all the charges for the live account, I have to keep my statements for 6 years so do not have to request the amount. It comes to just over £4000 I have an agreed overdraft on this account of £3500 that is always used to the maximum and sometimes over and that is where all the charges are being added.

The second account had charges levied on it for failed DD etc. I have not added the total yet as the statements are filed away.

The problem that I am concerned about and why I haven't tried to claim the money back is the A&L will no doubt close my account if I am successful. While it might be relatively easy to open a personnel account, that is not the case with a business account.

Has anyone had any experience with claiming of a business account?

Or if anyone has some advice it would be much appreciated

There should be no difference in the process or the outcome.

They have taken your money in unlawful charges so why should you not claim it back. Yes some banks are being vindictive and closing accounts, complaints to the OFT etc can be made.

You need to read up on the process and decisions you need to make. However the most important one is a "parachute" account.

you will have problems opening a new business account if you have had charges in the last 6 months, but I think you already knew this by your question.

To open a new account is going to take you to be able to convince a business manager of a bank of your long term success, the only thing I would recommend is line up meetings with all the bank managers at your premises to let them get a real taste for the business and get some nice hob nobs.
