Bank Charges

Hi, I'm new to this site and am a little confused.

Basically, I've just learnt that bank charges are illegal.

My OH has been charhed several times for been overdrawn without an overdraft. e.g her balance went below £0.00 and she was charged £25 for having no overdraft and £25 for them putting up the money for the DD until she could get some money in her account. (which was always the next day as i leant her it, and paid straight into her account CASH).

Is this a case where she can claim her money back? and if so can you point us in the right direction.

Hi Andy (and Andy's OH),

It really does take a few days to get your head around all the arguments and all the information.

You will be setting a timetable (the timetable that the bank says it will work to is irrelevant). In the FAQ you will find 'Step By Step Instructions.' Start this, be clear on what your first step is (requesting the info from the bank so that you can calculate what they owe you)

Whilst waiting for the info, read up on your next step. If you make sure you stick to your own thread in the relevant area (eg [username] claim against [bank]), and use this as a sort of diary which you can update as things progress. It will also enable you to check responses to your questions, and people will be able to find your thread a lot easier.

I think thats some nice bed time reading. Cheers. I'll keep you informed, but it is really up my wife if she wants to claim the charges back. (she'd be mad not to try).
