Hi
You could try phoning them... occasionaly I've had charges refunded but it seems to depend very much on who you get at the other end. Some are quite helpful. If thats no good, read all the advice you can on this forum and take them to court, its your money, but you'll have to claim it back!

Sorry to hear of your trouble with A&L, if it helps ive been in that exact situation before and when i called they dropped a couple of the charges.
If I were you though I'd start a claim as soon as you sort out your finances, to try and get all of you money back!!

thanks guys but they refunded half my first dd charge 2 weeks ago and refuse anymore refunds, the only thing i was told just a moment ago is to close the account and pay off the o/d or TAKE OUT A LOAN with them!! what are the b*******s like? Ive been in contact with the CCCS in the past month and they have advised me to do a few things that i will do asap, perhaps i have an unassertive voice and theyre out to get me whatever, thats wot it feels like. Thanks anyway...

Did they advise you to take out a loan to repay debts, because banks aren't meant to do that. Bank staff are not qualified finacial advisors and cannot therfore advise you on how to clear your debt, they are only reallt meant to ask if anyone else can 'help' repay the debt etc. So remember they can ask they cant advise.

Hi, guitardoctor, sorry to hear of your dire straits.

Your only recourse with A&L now would appear to be a claim against them for the charges. I suppose you are aware that you can take this back 6 years?

The downside is that it is going to take you some time (which obviously won't help feed your kids today!), and you will have to find the money to pay for the court case when the time arrives (unless you are on any benefits).

I hope you have a sympathetic relative somewhere who can help bail you out in the short term - the kids need food on their plates.

Luck, dude.
