Default Am i able to claim for charges made on account thats been closed since march 05??

Hi All,

I used to bank with a&l up until last year when after paying off a total of around £100 pounds in charges they asked me to send my cut up card and cut up cheque book back.

I had the account (which was a VISA Electron, no overdraft account) for about 5 years and wasnt what you call a problem customer - my account was always in credit with exception to the last couple of months when it went £20 in the red and then charges where added........like to add here that they wouldnt let me add an overdraft facilty to cover this!!!!

anyway am i able to claim for these charges? only problem is im at a completely different address to what i was and i have no idea what my account details where!

cheers

Chris

You can still claim on a closed account but you will need your account details. Its not surprising they would not let you have an overdraft cause they would not have been able to get 'unfair charges' off you then!! And then what would they do!! (they make me so angry)

Include in the letter that you have changed address since being with them and advise them of the old and new address. Ask them to update their details. May be worth sending that letter recorded delivery so they can't say they 'never received it'

Hi, Chris.

It's still your money, no matter when the account was closed, and your change of address should have no effect on your claim.

If you haven't sent the letter yet you may want to put in some proof of ID and change of address - maybe a couple of recent utility bills will do the trick?

Good Luck.
