A & L
I have a account which i opened 4 years ago and has run with 2 payments from other people being paid in a month and one regular dd out for the same amount each month. One person stopped paying in and my account went over its overdraft limit. As the account was an online one with no paper statements the first i knew of a problem was a letter telling me i was over my £500 od limit by £34. I phoned the day i received the letter (2 days after postmarked)thinking i could clear it with a debit card but as i didn’t have my telephone banking pins or my debit card i could not access the account.
I only needed the sort code in order to transfer funds but they could not even give this to me. They agreed to resend pins which never arrived. In the meantime i found my old pins which now did not work. Security again told me that i could not get any details 8 phone callsautolinker.com autolinking image later of my trying to acces the account finally someone told me i could go into a branch with id – i had previously gone into the branch and been told that i have post all payments in as i cannot do this over the counter. Finally i received a letter telling me the account would default if no action was taken and on this letter was a different phone number which when i phoned it they managed to discuss my account by identifying me through dob and address and mother’s maiden name. I paid my account back in full which now seemed to have had £200 in charges added and asked why i couldn’t have spoken to this department in the first place.
I thought it was all over but now i have had 5 mortgages refused because i am showing a status 3 on my credit record.
Any suggestion of wording that i could write to the bank to encourage them to change the status. It has been recommended to me that i mention the treating customers fairly and questioning their security system that does not allow for lost details (pins and debit cards)
i have 93 mortgages on perfect 0 status for the last 6 years
Any suggestions gratefully received
