Default A&L closed account £200 received

JUst for people to take inspiration from

I successfully claimed my charges back from a&l for £230 or so and they closed my account .... this was last year... I asked them for compensation for closing my account which I had only had for 6 months or so... and they said no... I chased through FOS and last week received cheque for £200 with there sincere apologies...

Woo hoo that's fantastic news! COngratulations!. I'm interested in finding out about letters & your complaint procedure too. I'm not sure if they have actually "closed" my account - they only said they were withdrawing facilities or something - but someone who tried to collect a direct debit told me that they had been informed the account had been closed.

Hi Crystalcag

Same here on Tues. Couldnt get a statement or access my account on line. Went to the branch they said it was pending closure. Then they phoned colllections who said it was closed.

letter recieved yesterday saying account had been terminated.

Went to CAB yesterday who phoned them and was told it was closed and then that banking facilities had been withdrawn but they were still operating it ie. allowing money in but not letting me have access to the account. (account overdrawn by £26!)

A&L then insisted that for me to be allowed to withdraw money going in next week I had to agree to pay £75 per month for 6 mths and then they might let me have access again!

Needles to say complaint made to the FOS
