Overdraft charges are difficult to calculate. If you have an authorised overdraft, part of the interest they charge you monthly is a legitimate fee for the overdraft.
You can only reclaim the portion of interest that's applied to any charges that take you over your overdraft (e.g, £1K overdraft - charge sends you over by £38 - overdraft interest applied of approx. £20 - you work out how much of the £20 is because of the £308 charge). Of course, if you didn't have an authorised overdraft - it's simple to calculate as you just reclaim the whole amount!!
If you've downloaded one of the correct interest calculation sheets for your schedule of charges - this is worked out for you.
The 8% interest is calculated up to the date you file the claim at court - and accrues at a certain amount per day dependant upon how much you're reclaiming.
