Hi,
I have sent my initial request for a refund of bank charges to a&l, and they have responded with the following...

"The OFT has commented that they consider the level of late payment fees to be be unfair, however they were actually referring to late payment fees for credit cards......... Discussions are ongoing between the banks and the OFT regarding current account and once the outcome is known, A & L will review it's position as appropriate........ As well as making our customers aware of our fees when opening accounts, we also continue to do so through our website, our branches, by telephone and on the bank statements. In view of this, I do not feel that you have been unfairly charged and regret that I cannot agree to refund your charges......"

I assume this is a standard letter - can anyone confirm they've had the same - and also can anyone advise on the best letter to send them in response to this?

I've also heard about the test case in September, what are peoples views on this - is it likely to herald the end of unfair bank charges being refunded???

yup its a standard letter,move on with your claim. send a nudge letter to a & l.look through the template section for one giving notice of intention to go to court.good luk never, give up hope.the test case will be a long drawn out one if they go ahead with it so keep the pressure on now.

Thanks Chubba, will send a letter giving notice, although I expected this from A&L it still leaves a bitter taste! Thanks for the encouragement, I intend to see this through until the end... Cheers
