They're using bully tactics, because you've only said you couldn't afford it, so they're picking on you.
Time to take back the upper hand.
1st thing, though, is to go open a basic account elsewhere, and get your benefits/wages paid there. Transfer your d/d asap. If they want to then keep on piling charge after charge, you will still be able to buy food rather than pay their charges. Once that's done, time to fight back.
Do you have all your statements covering the charges? If yes, Letter before action, if not, Data Protection Act request.
Don't let them dictate the pace. Set the timetable and stick to it. They can't send the bailiffs until they have a CCJ and they can't get a CCJ without going to court.
