Question How do I find out account numbers?

Hi
I had an Abbey account & credit card, due to circumstances & high bank charges I defaulted on the credit card and my account.
How do I find out my account numbers for my bank & my credit card?
I have sent my Data Protection Act but have had no response - so I'm wondering if it's because I didn't supply the account number.
Thanks

it shouldnt be, the Subject Access Request Data Protection Act is based on your as a person so as long as they have the address and name correct from your letter and that matches what your account details had on them (if you know what I mean) you will be fine.

Abbey are renowned for stalling the Data Protection Act Subject Access Request for as long as possible so as long as they have all your info and you sent payment you just have to wait.

Hi
Thanks for the reply
The other problem is that i've married & moved house....but I did send a copy of my marriage certificate and my driving license as proof of ID. I detailed my full name and address that the account was held in so they shouldn't have any trouble tracing it!
I've read that there is a 7 day letter that you can send telling them to comply with the Subject Access Request letter and informing them that you will take them to Court if they do not reply. As the deadline for the statements is today where can I find the template for that letter?

In the templates library - data protection act non compliance I'll get a link

doesnt sound like there is anymore you could have done to make them find the right info.
I suggest you mention the copies you sent them in the non compliance letter too

yes the fact you sent it is sufficient, if they choose not to cash it its their problem.

The key issue in all of this is to make sure you kept good records of what you have done, copy letters etc. reciepts for delivery.

Have the letters and deadline dates in a plastic folder. Should I have sent the SRA letter by Recorded Delivery? Should I get a signature for the 7 day letter?
Thanks for your help

Personally i send all correspondence recorded and check up when things are signed for.

You do have the alternative of putting things in the 1st class post with a return address on the back. If it doesnt come back its deemed served two days after posting, you must get proof of posting withi this as a record though.
