Abbey arranging an appointment

Hi all

My first post

I am helping my brother out here and we have sent the first letter off giving them 14 days to respond

Exactly 14 days later he has received a letter saying basically that they have acknowledged the letter and for them to consider his charges "sympathetically" for him to call and arrange an appointment with the manager.

He doesnt want to do this as he is a bif soft touch and hes scared he`s going to agree to what ever they say.

Basically, what do we do next? do we write back saying no or do we send the next letter?

just send the second letter of to them, no need for an appointment.

I agree with janner, there is no need for an appointment, this can be dealt with in writing. They want to get your brother on their turf and brow beat him in to signing his life away. Send the next letter and if you wish, tell them to stick the appointment where the sun don't shine, politley. It's on his terms now not their's, they are not dictating how thing go, we are, power to the people. Good luck.

we sent the second letter, he has just had a reply basically saying that they have responded positively and that they enclose a copy of their original letter asking him to make an appointment.

They still insist on making an appointment

what does he do????

stick to his agenda not theirs.he can write back saying that he is perfectly willing to enter into written discussions about the matter but that should he not receive what he asked for in his prelim and lba,the next step will be the issue of the claim on the date that the lba 14 days is up.up to them then he's said he is willing to enter into a dialogue with them but only in the written word.

Write back telling them he has set out his terms for settlement and if they want to settle they know what they ned to do.

If they wish to communicate anything with him then they can do it in writing.

End of and inform them that you are proceeding to court.

dont forget to keep a copy of everything they send you and you send them and dont mark your letters to them "without prejudice".
